To do this, it supports a range of apps from the App Store, including podcasts, Google Maps, and now, Elecbrakes. Available on any iPhone running iOS 16.0 or later, the Elecbrakes App integrates seamlessly with Carplay for safer, more streamlined towing.

What is Android Auto?

Developed by Google, Android Auto offers Android phone users an equivalent to Apple Carplay.

Similar to Carplay, this feature enables you to interact with an Android phone’s functions through your car’s built-in display or via Google Assistant voice commands – all with the aim of minimising driver distractions.

It is compatible with any Android device running Android 10.0 and supports all kinds of apps from the Google Play Store, including the Elecbrakes App.

Set and forget

Access up to five different preset braking programs. Once all programs have been configured, their settings are permanently saved on the brake controller. That means there’s no need to re-program every time you tow.

Customise braking responses

Ranging from 0 –100 in 1% increments, brake responses can be adjusted with exceptional precision. Fine tune the degree of braking in a few taps for a safe and smooth journey, whatever the driving conditions.

Override in one tap

Never miss a beat with status indicators and an instant override button. The blue tick symbol indicates a successful Bluetooth connection. When brakes are activated, this icon switches to a red circle. If needed, simply tap this circle to override the current braking with a preset brake response.

How to access Elecbrakes via your infotainment system

It’s easy to link the Elecbrakes App with your tow vehicle’s infotainment system.

Note that while iPhones are automatically equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android users have to download the Android Auto app to avail of this upgrade.

From there, follow the below steps for a simple setup:

1. Connect your phone to your Apple CarPlay or Android Auto-enabled head unit using a USB cable or Bluetooth pairing. If you choose to go wireless, remember to turn on Bluetooth mode on both devices.
2. Your dashboard’s home screen will display compatible apps. Keep swiping until you see the Elecbrakes App icon.
3. Tap the icon to open the App. Here, you can access all of your brake responses, preset programs and the override button, as well as key information on the electric brake controller.
