INSTALLATION STEPS
Getting started with your Elecbrakes EB2 is simple. Follow these steps to install, connect and configure your brake controller before towing.

Mount your EB2
Secure the brake controller to your trailer’s drawbar using the supplied screws. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally, provided one face or edge is parallel to the ground.

Connect the adaptor
Connect the Elecbrakes Plug + Play Adaptor to your EB2, trailer plug and tow vehicle socket.

Download the app
Use Tap + Tow by tapping your phone on the Elecbrakes logo to download the Elecbrakes app. You can also download it directly from the App Store or Google Play.

Power your EB2
With your EB2 mounted and plugged in, start your vehicle and switch your headlights to the full manual setting, not Auto, daytime running lights or high beam.

Connect your EB2 to the App
Open the app, simply select the EB2 image. You can add the device either by tapping your phone on the Elecbrakes logo again, or searching manually.

Configure and test
Follow the steps in the app to fine-tune the braking response. Test your settings in a safe location before towing.
Using the Elecbrakes Remote?
Complete the initial setup using the Elecbrakes app before pairing your Elecbrakes V3 Remote. The Remote must remain connected to USB power while in use.

Elecbrakes offers two top-tier options: the EB2 Trailer-Mounted Brake Controller and the VM1 Vehicle-Mounted Brake Controller. Both are designed with unique benefits to cater to your specific towing needs, whether you are using multiple vehicles or multiple trailers.
With the EB2 mounted on your trailer, any vehicle can tow it without needing a brake controller installed. The VM1 is installed in your vehicle, letting you tow multiple trailers with a single vehicle.

An adaptor and the Elecbrakes Remote are sold separately. Pick the adaptor that matches your tow vehicle socket and trailer plug: an elecConnect™ adaptor for flat pin combinations, or a wired adaptor where either end is a round pin connector.
You must choose the appropriate Elecbrakes adaptor based on your tow vehicle's trailer wiring socket and your trailer plug. The differences are in the shape and pin count.
Start by confirming the socket type fitted to the rear of the tow vehicle, then select the trailer plug type.
Elecbrakes provides an adaptor for each combination of commonly available plug and socket, allowing you to connect your vehicle to your new trailer, or vice versa, potentially without changing the plug or socket on either. When towing with multiple vehicles, it may be necessary to have more than one adaptor type on hand to suit different combinations.
Yes. A Wired Leader provides a permanent alternative to a plug-and-play adaptor by connecting directly to the trailer's wiring rather than sitting between the existing trailer plug and vehicle socket.
Match the wire colours to the trailer plug using the wiring guide above, and refer to the pin numbers in the EB2 Technical Manual. Inside the trailer plug that connects to the tow vehicle socket, the service brake wire (blue) must be joined to create a closed circuit between the brake controller and the brake magnets.
Yes. Elecbrakes brake controllers are designed to function with 12V and 24V vehicles registered in Australia and New Zealand, with respect to national standards and applicable ADRs. This includes modern vehicles equipped with trailer wiring modules, and earlier vehicles with fused circuits which are designed to meet the same national standards and ADRs for towing applications.
